The most wonderful Daniel Galang sent me some photos of our other mutual clients Joje and Andre’s engagement session. Coincidentally enough, they are getting married just a week after Karen and Christian! They are an adorably cute and fun couple and Daniel again captures that very beautifully. I came across this article by renowned event planner, Sasha Souza:
http://www.wedalert.com/content/articles/why_hire_coordinator.asp.
From my experience, there are three types of needs most couples fall into:
1) They need assistance from the beginning! A couple may not know where to begin, may be planning a wedding from out of town and don’t know local resources, or are too busy in career and/or life to put in the time and effort required. They may have a vision in mind but don’t know how to start execution or maybe just don’t have a vision at all. — As Sasha Souza said in the article, a Wedding Coordinator “will save you time and enable you to get the most for your money!” A Wedding Coordinator can perform all the research and present the best options to you.
2) They got the ball rolling but need more guidance! A couple may have the venues set and a clear vision in mind, but don’t have the proper resources to contact without going over their budget. They may need help in finding some vendors to help their dreams come true. They may also want someone to make sure they are doing all they need to do for preparation. — Sasha also stated that a Wedding Coordinator “guides and assists you in making informed decisions”. A Wedding Coordinator has the resources and relationships with other vendors.
3) They paved the way but…. Who’s going to run the rehearsal and wedding procession? Who’s going to set up the decor? Who will coordinate with the DJ & MC? Who will make sure all the vendors are there in time? Who will keep the reception program timeline? — These are a few tasks that a Wedding Coordinator handles on your big day. A Wedding Coordinator takes care of the work so you can have fun and celebrate.
When should I hire a Wedding Coordinator?
It depends which of the three described above you fall under. For type #1, start communication as soon as you decide the tentative date of your wedding and/or you realize you’ll need the assitance. In all cases, get in contact at least 4-6 months in advanced.
Why hire Simply Chic as my Wedding Coordinator?
- Our philosophy. Let your guests be guests, you be the celebrants, and we’ll handle all the fine details!
- Our commitment to education and training. April attends design courses while Ginet will graduate from the the University of San Diego and George Washington University’s Event Management Program at the end of the year. April and Ginet attended their first industry conference and tradeshow The Special Event Show and plan to continue to attend annually.
- Our professional affiliation. Ginet is a student member of the International Special Events Society.
- Our personalities. Ginet and April are approachable and easy-going, but still very professional. The best way to see this is to set an appointment for a consultation!
The most important thing to consider is value for the cost. We all know money is a key factor, but you should always keep in mind the value a wedding coordinator can provide. If you truly want to enjoy your day and not worry about the details, you’ll need someone there to make sure everything in the background runs smoothly. Your wedding coordinator should be someone you trust and confide in so that there’s be a mutual respect for each other and great communication. This will ensure the vision of your day will come alive exactly how you pictured it; thus, your wedding will be a success!
I’ve known photographer Daniel Galang since my second year of college. At my first general body meeting of Kaibigang Pilipino at UCSD, Daniel was the first person to come up to me during an icebreaker game. We’ve become good friends since then, participating as officers in the organization as well as taking those great [sarcasm well intended] lower-division engineering requirement classes together! We’ve come a long way since then and definitely have a long way to go, but Daniel just gets better and better with each job! The wonderful Daniel sent me some photos of our clients Karen and Christian’s engagement session. These pictures are ah-maze-ing! Daniel not only caught how they want the look and feel of their wedding to be (very classy!), but more importantly, he made them look really good. I’m sure it wasn’t too hard to do that especially as Karen being a model on the side, but even Christian looked so GQ and modelesque. Can’t pick a favorite? Neither can we. =)
I think everyone would agree that it’s always nice getting something unexpected in the mail (that’s not a bill). It’s even better when you receive a package!
Last week, we received a box..

And when I opened it, I was happily surprised to find this…

50 copies of Get Married! magazine!!

…and in this magazine is an ad for Simply Chic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In January, Ginet and I attended our first Event Planning and Coordination conference that was hosted in New Orleans, LA. While we were there, we were inspired. We really wanted to focus on making our business better this year and we vowed to do it. It was one of our goals to get our name out there. While walking around the exhibition hall, we got to meet a lot of vendors and one of them was Get Married! magazine. They offered a great rate for us to advertise online and in one of their magazines, so we did it!!
And this is the end product! How exciting is that!!!!!
My twin nephew and niece had their first birthday party a few months ago. My cousin Jasmine did an amazing job with all the decor! She’s usually not one to be all crafty without the help of my sister Marj, cousin-in-law Rowena (a couple people asked me if I made some of the stuff), so kudos to her! She hired the wonderful Heidi from heidiophoto to capture Damon and Danica’s special day. Pictures are on Heidi’s blog: http://heidiophoto.com/blog/?p=2985, but here’s a preview:

April and I would love to announce that Simply Chic is an official Envelopments Dealer/Designer!!!

Are you all just as EXCITED as we are???
Hello all! This is my first time blogging as a newly engaged woman! I’ll blog about the proposal next, but I wanted to let everyone know about the upcoming Wedding Party Bridal Show on Sunday, March 7. It will take place at the ever-so-hip Hard Rock Hotel in downtown San Diego from 12-5pm.
This will be my third time attending this awesome show but this time as a bride-to-be with my mom and sister. Every show is different (they seem to keep adding more & more elements to the show). Not only will there be all the different vendors, but there will be a “Say Yes To The Dress” gown changing area to try on designer gowns (I think I’ll definitely check this out!) and a grooms lounge. On the rooftop of the Hard Rock, they will feature the new Rehearsal Dinner Restaurant Row with San Diego’s best restaurants (i.e. free samples!) and night clubs, along with a design gallery and DJ lounge. Yes, there’s a BUNCH of stuff going on so you might want to get there early. It costs $20 but brides & grooms can register here for half-price tickets:

Extra guests can print this out for half-price tickets as well:

Hope to see you there! =)
A few weeks ago, Ginet and I had the opportunity to roam around downtown with the amazing Heidi Orcino, an AWESOME, San Diego based photographer who (coincidentally) we’ve had the pleasure to work with on a couple of different weddings! She was kind enough to help us take “professional” pictures for our business.. how super cool is she!!!? :]
Her pictures are so crisp and so fresh. Initially, Ginet and I wanted to take complicated/busy pictures, but she gave us her input on using more simple, textured backgrounds with nice lighting and and seriously, she was ON POINT. The pictures turned out exactly how we wanted them: simple and chic.
If you are in need of a photographer for any of your events, definitely check out Heidiophoto.
For one reason or another, the 19th is a big day for a bunch of people I know. For myself, the 19th [of Sept] was the day I kissed my boyfriend for the first time. For my brother and his wife, the 19th [of Sept] was their wedding day. Then there were a couple more weddings for special people in my life that landed on the 19th.. Joyce and Atlee [July '08] and Jamie and Chris [April '09]. I can’t forget that the 19th [of Oct] was a happy day for my roomie as well.. it was the day she and her boyfriend officially started dating.
And now, for one of my best friends since high school aka Ginet of Simply Chic and Justin, the 19th is special to them because it is the day that they got engaged.
I was in Tahoe snowboarding with my boyfriend this past weekend when I got a text from Ginet that read, “Ahh! I’m engaged!” Ohhh, those 3 little words that EVERY girl wants to be able to say/text/write someday (if they haven’t already). I was ecstatic to read the news and I’m sure Ginet was moreso to give the news!!
Congratulations Ginet and Justin!!!! I cannot be any happier for the two of you!
