A Sweet Adventure: The Shoes
I suppose I should start talking about fashion. Well, I won’t be showing any pictures of “the one” as I call my dress until after the wedding. I will mention that the first thing I purchased for my wedding attire were my shoes! Last year, I was shopping at Nordstrom in South Coast Plaza with my family after my very first dress appointment and spotted this beauty:
I wasn’t even trying to look for my wedding shoes because I hadn’t even purchased the dress. Since Nordstrom’s has an awesome return policy, I decided to purchase the pair and if I found another pair I liked better then I could return ‘em. The thought of wearing Maalo Blahniks or Jimmy Choos on my wedding day only crossed my mind for a split second. I LOVE fashion, but I would rather spend that much on a reception dress (and golly, I did! – More on that later). And I didn’t want to look any further for a “better” pair so I’m sticking to these lovelies. Here’s the front view:
If you’re wondering, that’s my mom’s foot in the background haha. We also decided on shoes for the bridesmaids – a search that took nearly a year! The bridesmaids will be wearing gray dresses with accents of teal, including on their shoes. Since their dresses will be different styles, my MOH/sister/wedding stylist Marj and I decided that the shoes should all be the same. Affordable teal shoes are a rarity, but I finally found a pair for them that’s going to end up costing them less than I anticipated! They’re from sears.com:

I ordered a pair to make sure they are good before giving the go for my bridesmaids to get them.
Accurate color? Check! Super cute? Check! Lack of cankle-look? Check! Comfy? For the most part, but the top part presses against my foot. Marj says they just need to be stretched out a bit. Bridesmaid Rowena recommends wearing the shoes around the house for a few weeks before the big day to break them in and get comfy. I can just picture all of us doing so while we watch Gossip Girl!
What did/would you do – go for the Manolo’s or Choo’s or go the cheaper route for shoes? And have you ever thought a pair was suuuuper cute, but when you tried them on, made it look like you have cankles?? I. Hate. That. But our shoe selection, I love! =)
