A Sweet Adventure: What’s in a Name??

Since April and I are both engaged (Yay!), we decided to just blog about our own wedding planning experiences here. She thought of a great idea to entitle each of our posts on our weddings followed by what the post is about (as above). I’ve been wanting to blog about my latest wedding planning experiences, but I haven’t come up with a clever name to entitle my blog posts. I wanted to think of something cutesy and original, but then I also wanted the title to be a reflection of what I’m envisioning for my wedding.

Well, I want the look and feel to be vintage and modern-ish. Of course, it will be chic (We are Simply Chic!). But what does vintage and modern really mean?? I was reluctant to use the word “vintage” because it seems so trendy right now, but I find myself leaning towards certain elements that have a vintage feel. Why go against that just because it’s trendy? It’s what I like. And then there’s modern. Well, I want the clean lines and we’re having our wedding in the city (San Francisco). So I was thinking to just entitle it “A Vintage Modern Wedding”. But then I thought about Justin and it wouldn’t be his vintage modern wedding – he would totally ask me, ”What does that mean?!?” It is, after all, his wedding too.

So then I thought about what we wanted and what we wanted our guests to feel and get out of our wedding celebration. We want our wedding reception to be the funnest wedding our guests have ever went to. What words came to mind? AWESOME, EPIC, LEGEND… [wait for it]… ARY. Ok, this just screams high expectations and maybe even a bit boastful, so ixnayed.

Then I thought about one of our favorites movies - Disney Pixar’s “Up”. We want to have many adventures together and we’ve already had some within our five years as a couple, so the whole wedding planning experience is just going to be one of our adventures. Now, we’re back to my wanting a cutesy title: “A Sweet Adventure”. Why “sweet”? For one reason, the 9th out of 17th definition for the adjective is “dear; beloved; precious” in Dictionary.com. The other and maybe more fitting reason, is the first definition posted by anonymous on December 14, 2002 in Urban Dictionary: “Something that is awesome”. Sweet.
