jasmin is one of my favorite people in the world. she’s the sister i never had and i am proud to be her godsister and one of her bridesmaids. unfortunately, stupid me didn’t realize when i booked my trip to colorado, it was the same weekend as jamie’s (her family nickname) bridal shower. sadface! according to my mom and everyone who went, i missed out on a FUN shower, but i’m so happy it was successful!
since i couldn’t be there, i did my best to help out with whatever i could beforehand. i offered to prepare the bridal shower favors and i am really happy with how they turned out! functionality and affordability are THE MOST important things to me when it comes to favors, so i tried to make them just that. and i can say i actually succeeded!
the favor set included: a mini planner, notepad, and custom made date stickers. the best part was that it turned out to only cost about = $1/set. SCORE!

1) I just finished the “How to Start A Wedding Business Class” with Peggy Jewell (www.jewellentertainment.com). She’s actually the first (and probably only) Peggy I’ve met and she’s a jewel. Ok, she’d probably not describe herself as that but I was just going off her last name. She has been an amazing instructor and really held our attention by, not only telling us stories of her wedding planning experiences, but being very funny and witty! I hope to be like her when I reach her age… and then like Joan (another Wedding planner) when I’m 80!
2) Peggy invited us as students to the ABC (Association of Bridal Consultants) networking event held at Anthology this past Tuesday. Has anyone ever been?! This place is super chic! I’ve heard of the place and seen pictures from the website but it totally doesn’t compare to actually being there. It has three levels, live jazz music, a private dining/meeting room, and most importantly, delicious food! (My mouth is watering as I type!) The ABC event was a lot of fun! I got plenty of business cards, yummy cupcake (by Flour Power), Boucher Photography captured the event (boudoir photo session, ladies?), the table settings, organic/sustainable floral arrangements – everything was beautiful (Note to self: ALWAYS bring camera). I think the most important thing was getting to know my fellow classmates/future event planners. We had a blast!
3) A plug: After graduating, my college friend Aimee got into Otis College of Art and Design in L.A. She’s now in her senior year and has interned for Nike and most recently, her project is to design a wedding dress with Monique Lhuillier, a famous bridal gown fashion designer (Britney Spears wore her dress to her wedding to Kevin Federline). Monique is my dream wedding dress designer so I’m extra excited for Aimee. You can check out her blog to keep up with this up and coming fashion designer: www.aimeesantos.wordpress.com.

It’s been a while since our last post! We’ve been quite busy! April with preparing for the Rock ‘n’ Roll marathon and me taking Event Management Program classes at USD. All that while trying to start a business!
As part of my requirements to complete the Event Management Program, I have to volunteer. On Saturday, I volunteered with Liz Beck Events (www.lizbeckevents.com) at the San Diego Wedding Party Bridal Show. Liz had an education pavillion called the Green Room where there were guest speakers to go along with the green/eco-friendly theme. There were two businesses I found particularly interesting. The first is an eco-friendly paper company (details later). The second is a wedding dress cleaning/preservation company. I didn’t know so much went into taking care of your dress! The company is Margaret’s Cleaners (www.margarets.com) based in La Jolla. They are family-owned and operated and I highly recommend you brides and grooms (and anyone that needs cleaning!) check them out. It is costly but I think well-worth the sustainability.
That’s it for now. We have plenty of projects on the way so we will definitely blog about them!
